James Jessop
James Jessop, a 22 year old speedway rider based near Peterborough, has been competing in the sport since 2017.
Introduced to speedway by his father, who took him to watch at Swindon in 2005, 4 year old JJ was instantly hooked and has never looked back. A couple of trial days at Scunthorpe, and with Ride N Slide at Leicester later, James saved up to get his own bike and kit in time for the 2017 season.
James became the last ever southern track riders novice champion and pairs champion in his debut year. He joined the Weymouth Wildcats in the Southern Development League that season, and doubled up in 2018 also riding for the MK Knights in the Midlands Development League. James’ progressed slowed in 2018, but by the end of 2019 he was getting amongst the points, and even giving some National Development League riders a push to the line.
Unfortunately, covid and 3 serious injuries have prevented James making any serious progress since, but he keeps pushing himself to make the jump to the National Development League.
